Olbia is the only place in the area where letting works all year, and that is the real difference from the resort towns nearby. Alongside the summer market there is steady demand from workers, students and hospital staff, driven by the Isola Bianca ferry port, the airport and the offices in town. A one-bedroom flat in the centre typically lets for €550 to €900 a month on a long-term contract.

It depends what you want from it. To live here year round, the old centre and the Corso Umberto area put services within walking distance. For a house with a garden, look at Sa Minda Noa and Poltu Quadu. For the sea, Pittulongu, Bados, Murta Maria and Porto Istana are all within twenty minutes of the centre. The first two are also the easiest to sell on.

Porto Cervo is about 30 kilometres away, a little over half an hour by car. Porto Rotondo and Portisco are fifteen to twenty minutes. That is why a lot of buyers use Olbia as a base: you stay within easy reach of the coast at a very different price per square metre.
